Scrambled! is planning to open its Ogden location on Saturday, Sept. 28.

“We will be doing raffles and giving away lots of gift cards!” said Oscar Rodriguez, who also owns the Layton Scrambled!

Raffle drawings are planned for every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rodriguez took over the former Sonic as 1241 Washington Boulevard last spring, and has worked all summer to get it ready for business.

“We are super stoked to come to Weber County,” he said.

Rodriguez hoped to open for limited service on Saturday, Sept. 21, but last-minute point-of-sale issues kept that from happening.

“But we plan to open Monday, the 23rd at 6am sharp and be open all week, leading to our grand opening celebration!” he said in a text.

The Ogden location has the same fast casual format, the same menu and prices.

“The only difference will be that this space will allow us to produce at a greater capacity,” he said.

The original Scrambled! opened on 2151 N. Hill Field Road in Layton in March 2020. It offers old-school breakfasts like pancakes, waffles, breakfast burritos, biscuits and gravy, omelets, Utah-style scones and cinnamon rolls.

But you’ll also find more current favorites like egg-white veggie omelets and avocado toast. The avocado toast uses thin slices fanned out across chewy-textured bread, with cracked black pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. It comes with turkey sausage and and two eggs, any style.

There’s a full menu of lattes, cappuccino and other drinks, with the coffee supplied by Daily Rise Roasting Company in Layton.

A top seller (and my personal fave) is Oscar’s Wicked Skillet — bacon, ham, sausage, cheddar jack cheese, onions, jalapenos, and tomatoes, over a mound of hash browns. It’s topped with two eggs, cooked any way.

“People just like the flavor of it,” said Rodriguez.

The lunch menu offers burgers, chili verde, sandwiches and salads, but breakfast items make up about 75 percent of the orders, even during lunch hours, Rodriguez said.

This is the second Layton restaurant to expand to Ogden this year. Red Fort Cuisine of India bought the former El Matador building in December 2023, and opened in May.
