Red Beard BBQ’s owners are actively seeking a new site for their barbecue, food truck and catering business. They posted on Facebook this week that they have to move from their Freeport Center location in Clearfield.

I’ve written about Red Beard’s unusual business model, being only open on Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings, with just a walk-up window in an out-of-the-way corner of the Freeport Center. Because Kelly and Heather Kennedy own two catering companies — Company Grill and Red Beard BBQ. Because they’re busy with catering jobs, they have limited time to be open to the public. On Friday mornings, people start lining up at 10 a.m., and when the barbecue and all the trimmings are gone…that’s it.

The Kennedys posted that their location is being redeveloped into a school and office space, so they need to find another base of operations as soon as possible. As they prepare to move, Red Beard won’t be open on Wednesdays anymore. They will be open for a few more Fridays, and “try to make the move as seamless as possible” Kelly Kennedy said.

“We will continue to operate our food truck and our catering business as normal right now, but we will not be open on Wednesday anymore as we prepare for this move,” Kelly Kennedy said.

The couple said they already have a few places in mind, but solicited suggestions from their FB followers. They said they want stay in the Davis County area, and if anyone knows of a possible warehouse, or a restaurant building, to reach out.

Commenters responded with some suggestions, including:

— The former Winger’s building on Kaysville’s 200 North, near the I-15 exit.

— An abandoned Burger King building in Farmington, near the Smith’s grocery store.

— The former Honeybaked Ham location in Riverdale

— The former Granny Annie’s in Kaysville

— An empty building by Smith’s on Harrison Blvd in Ogden

— The Five Points intersection on the north side of Ogden (the short-lived i.d.k. Barbecue was there in 2022)

— The former Denny’s building next to the Layton Hills Mall

— The old Star Cafe in Clearfield

— The Red Barn Chicken in Farmington, which used to be Sticky Bird. It recently closed and has been put up for sale by the owners of Red Barn Academy.

Lots of interesting options; we can’t wait to see how the next version of Red Beard BBQ plays out.
