Chocolate and Cheese Festival at The Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum of Utah’s annual Chocolate and Cheese Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, March 24 – 25, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rio Tinto Center, 301 Wakara Way, University of Utah.
The Chocolate and Cheese Festival has become one of the Museum’s most popular events, according to a NHMU press release. It’s an opportunity for families and friends to meet local artisans, taste their amazing creations and purchase some to take home.
In addition to the food market, festivalgoers can register online for one of these workshops: Chocolate Production, Chocolate and Cheese Pairings, Burrata Making, Let’s Do Fondue!, Olive Oil Tasting, Mozzarella Pulling, Coffee and Chocolate Pairings and more. Workshops for children include Chocolate Exploration and Fondue to Fun-Due.
Andy Mueller, national wholesale director for Beehive Cheese Company, LLC, located in Uintah, Utah says, “The Chocolate and Cheese Festival has always been a great way to showcase our artisan cheeses for an enthusiastic crowd that appreciates what we do. It’s one of the best events of the year, and we always look forward to participating!”
The cheeses and chocolates presented are “artisan,” which denotes small batches, handcrafting, and traditional processes. instead of mass food production. It’s a quality-over-quantity business model that resonates with discerning consumers around the globe.
According to DeAnn Wallin, one of the passionate owners of Solstice Chocolate in Murray, Utah, “The most rewarding thing about being a craft/artisan/bean-to-bar chocolate maker [is that] I love seeing the joy chocolate brings to people, especially as they discover and explore everything artisan chocolate has to offer. It’s a world of its own.”
Entrance into the festival is included in the museum admission cost, and workshops have additional fees.
