North Ogden Gets Cafe Rio
Cafe Rio Mexican Grill is opening a location at 2629 North 400 East in North Ogden on August 6. This is the Utah chain’s 25th location in Utah and 74th location throughout 11 states.
Remember the days when small Utah towns (and probably across the country) knew they were “on the map” when they got a McDonald’s? Well, nowadays it seems to be that way with Cafe Rio.
The “burrito ribbon” cutting takes place at 10 a.m. Aug. 6, with North Ogden Mayor Brent Taylor doing the honors.
It’s customary with all Cafe Rio openings that the company makes a local charitable donation to a worthy organization. Your Community Connection (YCC), which is dedicated to the saving and changing of lives of those affected by domestic violence, will be the recipient of a $2,500 donation.
The Utah-based chain has been in Utah since 1997, and is known for its fresh-Mex food. Copycat recipes for its sweet pork and tomatillo dressing are posted throughout the blogosphere. People try, tinker, and try again to imitate Cafe Rio’s secret recipes. The company has a made-from-scratch menu and a strict, “no microwaves, no freezers” policy to stay true to its commitment for fresh-made meals.
The chain has won over 75 awards including the coveted title of the Nations Number One Overall Quick Service Restaurant from Sandelman & Associates’ Quick-Track® Award three separate times, including last year; and Nation’s Restaurant News Breakout Brands in 2014.
Its menu is inspired by the traditional Mexican cooking found in the Rio Grande region of Northern Mexico, Southern Texas, and New Mexico.
