Slackwater Pizza and Pub

Last week our Ladies Who Lunch group went to Slackwater Pizza and Pub. We sat on the patio next to the Ogden River — a scenic spot this time of year.

 

 

 

When it came to ordering, it was hard to make a decision — in the past I’ve tried the Smoked Pork Chile Verde Nachos, and a Pizza Margherita on a previous visit.  I was also tempted to try to mushroom pizza.  But all of those seemed carb-heavy for my current weight loss program.

One of the women who came a bit early had already ordered a salad from the daily specials. It arrived before the rest of us ordered, and it looked so good it won me over.  Don’t remember the name, as it’s not part of  the regular menu. But it was topped with crunchy, flavorful pine nuts, and underneath there were lots of fresh greens.

The Slackwater entrance is a little bit of a mystery. I never found the front door, and I ended up coming in through the patio. I wasn’t the only one. Those who did come through the front door looked around awhile to find someone to show them where our group was seated. There didn’t appear to be a hostess on duty. Apparently the wait staff also does the hostess duties, and they were pretty busy. But once you are seated, the service is pretty good, and from what I’ve tried, so is the food.
