“Food Court Wars” Seeking Local Extras in Logan Saturday

The Food Network show “Food Court Wars” is seeking local extras on Saturday, according to this story in the Standard-Examiner. Hey, if you always wanted to be on the Food Network, here’s your chance!

Reporter Nancy Van Valkenburg wrote that the Cache Valley Mall and Beaver Mountain resort will be be backdrops for an upcoming episode of “Food Court Wars.” In each episode, two teams of aspiring food entrepreneurs face off for a chance to open a new eatery in a local mall, test their concept and market their brand to shoppers. The winning team get the use of their food court restaurant space rent free for a year.

Popular host Tyler Florence advises both teams. This isn’t his first time in Utah; I met Florence at Sundance several years ago, when he was doing cooking shows, before he got into hosting all these competition series.

According to Nancy’s story, the show needs about 200 extras for the 4 p.m. Saturday shoot, at where they may be  asked to rate food samples on camera. To learn more about how to be an extra, email FCWLogan@gmail.com, which will provide a list of requirements and guidelines by auto reply.

Among the requirements are that participants sign a release, wear clothing with no logos, including college logos, and plan to be available for a few hours. Producers suggest bringing a book or personal electronic entertainment. People younger than 18 must come with a parent or legal guardian to participate.
