You might assume Rodizio Grill consists of a couple of Utah restaurants, but actually, the company website lists 16 locations around the country, and it continues to grow.
It was founded in Denver in 1995 by Ivan Utrera, who grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil and earned an MBA at Brigham Young University.
His goal was to introduce Americans to that traditional “churrasco” style of dining from southern Brazil: a parade of “gauchos” coming to your table and carving grilled meat off of long skewers. There are also a salad buffet and hot side dishes.
Rodizio Grill is known as the first authentic Brazilian steakhouse in the United States. It’s super Paleo-friendly — lots of meat! and 95% of the menu is gluten-free.
There are also some great desserts desserts such as a Key Lime Pie, cheesecake, creme brulee and flan.
The sweet, juicy grilled pineapple is a dessert all by itself.
This may give away my age, but I attended the opening night when Rodizio Grill opened at Trolley Square, in January of 1999. And we’re both still alive and better than ever, right?
