Cookbook Giveaway: “Double Delicious” by Jessica Seinfeld
This week I’m giving away the cookbook, “Double Delicious” by Jessica Seinfeld, wife of comedian Jerry Seinfeld. The book is published by WIlliam Morrow and retails for $28.99.
Seinfeld’s first book, “Deceptively Delicious” featured stealth nutrition — vegetable purees that you sneak into the dishes.
“Double Delicious” is more of the same idea. The Crunchy Almond Granola and Teriyaki Chicken recipes are healthified with carrot puree. The Bacon and Egg Cups are fortified with cauliflower puree. A white bean spread is tucked into grilled cheese sandwiches, hidden under the gooey melted cheese. Also, white flour is ditched for whole wheat, and turkey is subbed for red meat.
The Cheese Nachos, which Jessica makes for hubby Jerry Seinfeld and his pals when they are watching TV sports, uses ground turkey, cauliflower puree and carrot puree.
Even the dessert recipes are low in fat and higher-than-usual in nutrients. For instance, the Lemon Cream Cookies use reduced-fat cream cheese, whole-wheat flour, and yellow squash puree.
You can enter the giveaway drawing by leaving a comment at the end of this post — share what your favorite cookbook is, or what you love most about trying new recipes, or nutrition. You don’t need to leave your full name, but you’ll need an identifier besides Anonymous.
On Friday night I will go through the comments and draw out one of the names from a bowl. I will post the winning name on this blog and on Facebook. You will need to email me your snail mail address so I can send you the book.
