Adam Finkle’s photography of local chefs and food purveyors will be on display at Les Madeleines during the month of June. This is his portrait of Sunny Tsogbadrakh  chef at Naked Fish Bistro.

An opening reception for The Faces of Food: Photographs by Adam Finkle takes place Thursday, June 9 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Les Madeleines, 216 E. 400 South in Salt Lake City. phone 801-355-2294.  These photographs of well-known Utah food folks will be on display at Les Madeleines for a month.

Adam Finkle has been the staff photographer for Salt Lake magazine and Utah Style & Design magazines for 12 years. He has worked his photographic magic for many notable clients including Westminster College, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Grand America, Toyota, Xango, University of Utah and the Canyons. His photographs have been featured in PeopleMagazine, ESPN magazine, Sunset and Ski Utah, and on Food Network.

He is best known for his delicate touch and artistic eye in in food photography.  He elevates food photos to art. He’s worked with the state’s top chefs at the best restaurants and his installation of photographs was one of the major attractions at the ground-breaking MIST pop-up restaurant project.  He’s almost as familiar with the trials and tribulations of a kitchen as of a photo studio.

Now he presents a series of photographs illustrating the passion that drives chefs and other food creators.

Every good chef acquires a level of expertise—besides the obvious developed sense of taste, you have to be organized and have crazy knife skills, you have to be able to multitask madly and keep cool in a crisis, you have to take pleasure in invention and consistency at the same time. But driving those abilities there’s something else, a personal passion that finds expression in food. —Salt Lake magazine

That’s the essence photographer Adam Finkle is looking for when he shoots these portraits of local chefs and food makers. This is an ongoing project—this exhibit is just the beginning.
