Utah Bakers Compete on Buddy Valastro’s “Bake It Like Buddy” TV Show

Debi Jensen of Swirly Girls Bakery talks to judges Buddy Valastro, Joey Faugno and Marissa Lopez during the premiere “Bake It Like Buddy” episode.

Can Utah bakers win against “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro’s famous Carlo’s Bakery? Debi Jensen and granddaughter Sage Jensen of Swirly Girls Bakery in Daybreak will be competing in the premiere of Valastro’s new competition series, BAKE IT LIKE BUDDY on Discovery Family Channel.  The show airs Saturday, September 8 at 9/8c.

Each week on BAKE IT LIKE BUDDY, two  talented, passionate and creative baking family duos face-off against each other in a fun head-to-head bake off at Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey. The contestants, spanning from professionals to emerging chefs to passionate weekend bakers, will test their baking abilities through Buddy’s unique challenges.

In the premiere episode, grandmother and granddaughter duos create elegant princess cakes worthy of royalty. But will these talented kids be able to keep their quirky grandmas in check as they try to bake and decorate cakes fit for a fairytale? Buddy is joined by Joey Faugno of Carlo’s and the queen of “Next Great Baker,” Marissa Lopez, to judge.

The two teams have only four hours to design, bake, and decorate a cake for the chance to win a $1,000 cash prize, professional baking supplies and most importantly, bragging rights!

Throughout the competition, Buddy and his family members inspire bakers to take their skills to the next level with tips, real-time feedback and design assistance. This season, teams from across the country including mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, cousins, sisters, twins, best friends and more will compete to have their cake and eat it too in an emotionally charged, all you can eat cake battle where family is just as important as the ingredients.

Swirly Girls Bakery is located on SoDa Row in Daybreak (official address is 11248 Kestrel Rise Rd #100, South Jordan).
