You can make this season a “Gingerbread Wonderland” with this cookbook by Mima Sinclair, featuring 30 magical houses, cookies and cakes. I’m doing a prize drawing for a copy of the book. All you have to do to “play along” is leave a comment at the end of my blog.
This hardcover book avoids complicated equipment and hard-to-source ingredients. There are templates so that you can create your own cookie cutters, if you are on a budget. There are tips such as which molasses to use, secrets to deliciously chewy dough, and how to make caramel or icing “glue” for maximum sticking power. (If you’ve ever watched your gingerbread collapse while in the midst of decorating it — which I have! — you will definitely understand the importance of maximum sticking power.)
There are dairy- and gluten-free variations of dough recipes. Creations include as Gingerbread Family on their own Gingerbread Street, or a Gingerbread Townhouse or Wildlife Wonderland. The last chapter contains treats and sweets, and gift ideas such as cookies-in-a-jar and gingerbread syrup.
If you want to enter the prize drawing, just leave a comment at the end of my blog. I’ll draw a winner on Tuesday, and get in touch so I can send you the book.
