Chili Affair Fundraiser Benefits the Road Home Shelter

Some of Utah’s top chefs will serve their version of chili at the Great Salt Lake Chili Affair Sept. 13.

The heat is on with the annual Great Salt Lake Chili Affair on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 5:30-9 p.m. the Salt Palace Convention Center,100 S. West Temple (Hall #5).

Now in its 31st year, the Chili Affair attracts nearly 2,000 guests and features chili samples from some of Utah’s top restaurants, rounded out with salad, bread and desserts. Tickets are $42 per adult, with children under age 12 free. Proceed benefit the Road Home, which provides shelter and housing services for those who are homeless.

Although it’s too late to buy tickets online, you can still pay at the door. This year’s theme is a beach bash, so wear your Hawaiian shirt and donate to help the homeless!

Participating restaurants and chefs include:

Blue Boar Inn

Cantina Southwest Grill

Catering by Bryce

Frida Bistro

Grand America

Harmons

Hotel RL

Iggy’s Sports Grill

Entertainment will be provided by Kanani Pua DanceMunicipal Ballet Co., and Odyssey Dance. There’s also a silent auction that includes entertainment, travel, food, jewelry and gift items.

I’m excited to be coming to this event as a judge. Every year, the 2,000-plus attendees get to vote on the “People’s Choice” of chili. And there are also celebrity and media judges. Will our taste buds align with the “People’s” palate?
