I’m giving away a copy of “Patisserie Made Simple,” a beautiful hard-bound book for bakers, by Edd Kimber.

This book is for those who would love to learn the basics of French patisserie such as macarons, millefeuille, kouing aman,  eclairs, croissants, molten chocolate cake, creme brulee, madeleines and more. All with beautiful color photos.

Truthfully, I don’t do as much baking anymore. And when I do, I tend to make more simple things that don’t take a lot of time or effort. Frankly, I’d rather enjoy a Kouing Aman pastry at Les Madeleines than go through the work that it takes to make it.  But if you really want to perfect your skills as a pastry chef, this would be the book for you.

Kimber gives a lot of detailed directions and tips with each recipe in “Patisserie Made Simple.” No need to be a culinary school grad to follow the directions and end up with great results.

Kimber won the first series of The Great British Bake-Off in 2010. He is the author of “The Boy Who Bakes” and has a blog by the same name.

if you want your name entered in the drawing, just leave me a comment at the end of this post. What would you hope to bake if you won a copy of the book? (I’m not judging by the best comment, so don’t worry if you’re not super-creative or literary. Everyone will have an equal chance!)

I’ll be drawing out a winner on Monday, Jan. 23. The winner can send me a snail mail address so I can put the book in the mail.
