Cookbook Giveaway: “Man Food”

Man FoodWhat’s “Man Food” as opposed to “woman food,” or “people food?” You can find out if you win my cookbook giveaway for “Man Food,” by Billy Law, a popular Australian food blogger and photographer. This hard-back cookbook, published by Hardie Grant Books, is 192 pages with drool-worthy photos.

To enter the prize drawing, just leave a comment at the end of this post. That’s all! No signing up for emails or “Likes” or whatever. On Monday, I’ll draw a winner and post it on this blog. You’ll need to email me at Val@chewandchat.com with your snail mail address so I can get the book to you.

“For me, Man Food is when you fire up a BBQ to grill some sausages or seafood, when you carve into that big hunk of prime rib and serve it with crispy potatoes, when you make pasta for the first time and bake your first loaf of bread, when you embrace a classic hearty stew or a hot bowl of pho bo on a rainy day, when you snack on candied popcorn (or bacon) in love of the TV, when you prepare a DIY meat feast for your next dinner party, or whip up the most decadent dessert for your loved ones on a special occasion,” said Law.

His goal is to “get men into the kitchen, get them cooking, and teach them to play around with food by experimenting and trying new things.”

Law is a blogger at atablefortwo.com.au, and he competed on “Masterchef Australia,” in 2011. Since then, he has worked with such clients asd Nespresso, Ocean Spray, Malaysia Kitchen, Air Asia, Qantas, and Expedia Travel.

The recipes are pretty hearty, with bacon as a prevailing theme, including Bacon Kaboom!, a version of the bacon-woven meatloaf, that went viral on the Internet awhile back. There’s Fool’s Gold Loaf, a bacon, peanut butter and jelly sandwich made legendary by Elvis Presley, Cheesy Bacon & Leek Dip; Cauliflower Bacon & Sage Gratin; and Roasted Balsamic Brussels Sprouts with Chestnuts & Bacon. But there’s also Lobster Mac & Cheese, Fried Chicken & Cornmeal Waffles, Coq Au Vin, Shrimp Etoufee, Mussels in Saffron Broth, Cajun Crab Boil, Hasselback Potato Gratin, Apple Cider Glazed Pulled-Pork Sliders, Hearty Chorizo & Haloumi Breakfast Wrap, Bloomin’ Onion With Siracha Mayo, Kale & Feta Stuffed Roast Leg of Lamb, and Rainbow Steak in Lettuce Cups.
