McDonald’s Happy Meals Get Cuties

Happy-cutiesParticipating McDonald’s restaurants in Utah, western Wyoming and eastern Nevada are now offering Cuties California Clementines in their Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals. The sweet, kid-friendly oranges will be available during their peak season, December through March 2015.

According to a press release, McDonald’s USA is partnering with Sun Pacific, a family-owned cutriesfruit grower. Currently, the side choices for McDonald’s Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals are apple slices or Go-GURT® low-fat Strawberry Yogurt.

I know it may seem incongruous to have chicken McNuggets and french fries served alongside a sweet, fresh clementine. But, it’s a step in the right direction. Cuties are sweet and juicy, easy to peel, and provide an excellent source of vitamin C and about one-half serving of fruit. There is no extra charge for the fresh fruit option, and customers can also buy Cuties a la carte.
