Salt Lake Culinary Center Opens BlueStar Kitchen

The Salt Lake Culinary Center will host a grand opening for its new BlueStar professional kitchen on June 13.

The Salt Lake Culinary Center, at 2233 S. 300 East in South Salt Lake, hosts classes for home cooks and private events.

After the BlueStar ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m., there will be cooking demonstrations with appetizers, beverages, desserts, and more. The ribbon cutting ceremony is free of charge. The grand opening celebration is $15 per person in advance, $20 at the door. The Culinary Center will donate 50% of the celebrations’ proceeds to Local First Utah.

The new BlueStar kitchen will replace one of the school’s three teaching kitchens. When asked, “Why BlueStar?” Culinary Director Diane Sheya responded, “When you have the added advantage of teaching and cooking with high quality appliances, nothing could be better. It was a natural fit.”

The Culinary Center’s new BlueStar equipment will include a 36-inch range, range top, and a cook top as well as two, just released, electric French door wall ovens with built-in pizza stones. BlueStar cooking products are designed to give restaurant-quality results in home kitchens. BlueStar cooking products have been handcrafted in Reading, Pennsylvania for 130 years, according to a press release about the company.
